Eternal Spring
Bronze Monument, 1989

Eternal Spring originates as an outshoot of artistic inspiration following the creation of Novation. These compositions comprise a shared rationale in the exploration of “Shared Anatomy,” inspired by the Cubists’ two-dimensional interpenetration of planes, expressed in three-dimensional sculpture. In this composition, a female figure emerges from masses of elemental stone-like forms and natural textures. In the tradition of sculpture, this represents the emergence of the classical study of anatomy from the fundamental elements of nature. Eternal Spring is a thematic expression of the grand theme of the four seasons, and particularly of the passing of winter and arrival of spring; as such, small relief laurel leaves are sculpted upon the victorious figure’s crown.
